Internal Files

View a selected internal reference document right inside the app.

When you open an internal file, the app shows the document as a PDF on a single screen. The document's title sits at the top, and the pages are laid out book-style so the content reads naturally as you scroll and zoom. A back button returns you to wherever you came from, so you can check a procedure or a phone list and be back on task in seconds.

Overview

This screen is a read-only document viewer. It opens whichever reference document was selected and presents it in a scrollable, zoomable page view.

Back button	Cancels any in-progress download and returns you to the previous screen
Return to Mobile Data Com button	An extra back control shown only when you reached the document from the Mobile Data Com area; hidden otherwise

Pinch in	Zooms back out; pages return to fitting the screen
Drag while zoomed	Pans around the enlarged page

There are no editing, sharing, printing, download, search, or bookmark controls on this screen. It only displays the document.

Getting Here

1. From the Home screen, open References.
2. Select the internal document you want to read.
3. The document opens on this screen and starts loading.

Documents can also open here from other parts of the app that attach reference material, including the Mobile Data Com area — which is the only case where the extra Return to Mobile Data Com button appears.

A document is opened either from a copy already stored on your device or from an online location. A stored copy appears almost immediately; a document fetched from online shows a brief loading indicator first.

Viewing a Document

1. Check the Title at the top matches the document you meant to open.
2. Wait for the pages to appear in the document area.

3. Read the document:
   • Scroll to move through the pages.
   • Zoom with a pinch to enlarge small print; pages auto-scale to fit when you zoom back out.

tip

For dense tables and small print, zoom in first and then scroll. The book-style layout keeps each page whole, so you can zoom into a column and move down it without losing your place.

caution

If the document area stays empty, the file may be unavailable or may have failed to load, and no message is shown to tell you so. Go back, confirm you have a working connection if the document comes from online, and open it again.

Going Back

1. Tap the Back button.
2. Any download still in progress is cancelled and you return to the previous screen.
3. If you opened the document from the Mobile Data Com area, you can instead tap Return to Mobile Data Com to go straight back there.

Your scroll position and zoom level are not remembered. Reopening the document starts again at the first page, fitted to the screen.

Reading Documents in the Field

The viewer is simple, so a little technique helps with long documents.

1. Zoom to a column, then scroll. The book-style layout keeps each page intact, so you can enlarge one column of a table and move down it without losing the row you are on.
2. Note the page number before you leave. Nothing is remembered, so you come back to the first page.
3. Open the document before you lose signal if it is fetched from online. Once it has been retrieved it opens faster the next time.
4. Read landscape for wide tables. Rotating gives the page more width, which usually beats zooming and panning.

Because there is no error message, an empty document area and a document that genuinely has no content look the same. If the area stays empty, treat it as a failed load and try again rather than assuming the document is blank.

How This Connects

• Where documents come from. Internal files are reference material published for your organization. Some are already stored on the device and open instantly; others are fetched from an online location the moment you open them, which is why the same screen can feel instant one time and slow another.
• Nothing is written back. The viewer never changes the document. There is no local copy of your reading position, no annotation, and no upload — anything you need to record goes in the relevant incident or log instead.
• Reached from Communications. The Mobile Data Com area in Communications can hand a document to this screen, and that is the one case where the Return to Mobile Data Com button appears, so you land back where you were rather than at the References list.
• Related reference screens. Codeplug reference material is browsed as structured lists rather than documents — see Radio Info and Channels. Map-based reference layers live in Reference Map.
• App help is separate. The app's own guidance is reached from settings rather than from here — see User Manual.
• Offline and reconnect. A document already stored on the device opens and reads fully offline. A document that has to be fetched needs a connection: with no signal the area stays empty. Reconnect and open it again, and once it has been fetched it opens faster the next time.

Troubleshooting

If this happens	What to do
The document area stays empty	The file could not be read. Go back, check your connection, and open the document again.
A loading indicator appears then nothing	The fetch failed. Try again on a stronger connection.
An unexpected sample document appears	No document was passed to the screen. Go back and select the document from the References list again.
The title is not the document you wanted	You opened the wrong entry. Go back and pick the correct one.
Text is too small to read	Pinch to zoom in, then scroll. Pages auto-scale back to fit when you zoom out.
You lost your place after going back	Position and zoom are not remembered. Note the page number before you leave.
There is no Return to Mobile Data Com button	You did not arrive from Mobile Data Com. Use the standard Back button.
You need to share the document	That is not possible from this screen; there are no share or download controls.
