Directions
Turn-by-turn navigation with voice guidance to any destination.
The Directions screen gives you full turn-by-turn navigation. Search for a destination, set route options if the vehicle you are in needs them, review the route on the map, then start guided navigation with spoken instructions and on-screen banners.
Overview

During navigation a top banner shows the next turn instruction, and a bottom banner shows the estimated time, the distance remaining and the arrival time.
Getting Here
- Open the Reference Map, or an open saved map.
- Tap the map's menu button.
- Tap Direction. The Directions screen opens with the search box ready.
Pick a Destination
- Tap the search box and begin typing.
- Suggestions appear as you type, each showing a name and a short description such as a street, city and state.
- Tap a suggestion. The search box clears, the suggestion list closes, and the chosen place is shown on the bottom panel.
- The Route Options card opens so you can set how the route should be calculated.
Set Route Options
The Route Options card opens once you have chosen a destination. It is scrollable, grouped into sections, and has three ways out.

Travel mode
Pick one:

Vehicle limits
Keeps apparatus off roads it cannot physically clear. Leave a field blank to use the standard values.

A number outside the range is pulled back to the nearest allowed value rather than rejected.
Advanced

Spoken distance units
Pick Imperial (miles, feet) or Metric (kilometres, metres). The card opens on whichever matches the unit system already set for your account.
tip
Set Max height and Max weight once for the rig you are in and tap START. Every route drawn afterwards in this session reuses those limits, so you do not have to re-enter them for each destination.
Review and Start Navigating
- After START or SKIP, the route is drawn on the map with markers at each end and the bottom panel appears.
- If alternatives were allowed, the other routes are drawn alongside with their relative travel times labelled. Tap a route line to switch to it.
- Tap Direction on the bottom panel to begin guided navigation. The map switches to the navigation view with the turn banners in place.
During Navigation
- The top banner displays the next manoeuvre.
- The bottom banner shows estimated time, distance remaining and arrival time.
- Tap Re-Center to bring the camera back to following you after you have panned away.
- Tap Overview to zoom out and see the whole remaining route, then Re-Center to resume following.
- Tap the speaker button to mute or unmute the spoken instructions. The button stays highlighted while guidance is muted.
- Tap Back to end navigation and return to the map.

Voice guidance speaks distances in the unit system you chose under Spoken distance units in Route Options, which may differ from the app's own display units if you changed it on the card.
Add or Remove Stops
- Tap the map to add a waypoint. The route recalculates to run through it.
- Tap an existing waypoint to be asked whether to remove it. Confirm Remove Waypoint, or choose Cancel to keep it.
- With Allow U-turns switched off, the route is kept running straight through each waypoint rather than turning back on itself.
How This Connects
- Routes and voice guidance are calculated on the server from live road and traffic data, so a route needs a connection. An offline downloaded map area keeps the tiles visible but cannot produce a new route.
- Your starting point is your live position from the device, the same fix shown on Map and measured on the GPS screen.
- The quick drive time and distance strip on the Map screen uses the same traffic-aware driving profile as this screen's default travel mode, so the figures should agree.
- The base map you navigate on is your account's selected style — change it from Base Map on any map menu, or from Map Style Options.
- Whether distances read in miles or kilometres by default comes from your unit system in General App Settings.
- To get to an incident rather than a searched address, start from the incident's own Maps tab, which carries the incident location into the map tools.
Troubleshooting
| If this happens | What to do |

| No suggestions appear as you type | Place search needs a connection. Check your signal, and try a shorter search such as street and town. |
| You picked a destination but no route drew | A route needs your own position too. Allow location for the app, let the fix settle, then pick the destination again. |
| A brief error message appears instead of a route | The server could not build a route with those settings. Reopen Route Options and loosen the restrictions — over-tight Avoid ticks or very low vehicle limits are the usual cause. |
| The route ignores your vehicle limits | The limits only apply when you leave the card with START. SKIP and the close button both discard them. |
| Voice guidance is silent | Tap the speaker button to unmute, and check the device is not on silent with media volume down. |
| The camera has stopped following you | You panned the map. Tap Re-Center. |
| The map is blank while navigating | Tiles are fetched live. Download the area for offline use from the Reference Map before you set off. |
| Navigation will not start in a dead spot | Start the route while you still have signal. Guidance continues once started, but a new route cannot be calculated without a connection. |
