Search Events

Find any event fast by searching across titles, types, locations, and more.

Search Events lists every event your agency's calendar holds, newest date first, grouped under date headings. Typing in the search field narrows the whole list at once. It is the screen to use when you know something about an event but not when it happened — a station name, a training type, half a title.

Dates run newest first, so the most recent activity is at the top and older events are further down.

Reading the color bar​

This is the same code used for the dots on the Calendar grid.

Reading a row​

Each row packs three lines of information:

Getting Here​

  1. Open Home, then tap Calendar.
  2. Tap the Add (+) button.
  3. Choose Search.

The list is built from the events stored on your device, so it opens instantly and works with no connection.

Searching​

  1. Tap the Search field and begin typing.
  2. The list re-filters with every character. Date headings with no remaining matches drop out entirely.
  3. Tap the clear control beside the field to reset and show everything again.

Search looks at five things at once:

Matching ignores case and ignores leading and trailing spaces, and a row appears once no matter how many fields it matched in.

tip

Searching by location is the quickest way to pull up the history for one place — type a station name to see every drill, inspection and meeting held there.

Opening an Event​

Tap any row to open its Event Detail, where you can reply to your invitation, see who else is coming, get directions and join a linked meeting.

Deleting an Event​

  1. Press and hold the event row.
  2. The app asks, under the heading Delete: "Are you sure you want to delete this event?"
  3. Confirm with Delete, or back out with Cancel.

Deleting removes the event for everyone who was invited, not just from your own view, and it cannot be undone. If your agency syncs to your phone's own calendar the matching entry is removed there too.

How This Connects​

  • Where the data comes from. The list is built entirely from the calendar events stored on your device, which is why it is instant and works offline. That local copy is kept in step with your agency's calendar on the server by the Calendar screen, which refreshes in the background each time it opens. If something you expect is missing, open the Calendar once with a connection and come back.
  • Event types. The readable type names you can search for come from your agency's list of event types, configured by your administrator. An event whose type has since been removed from that list shows "Type: -" and cannot be found by type name.
  • Calendar. Deleting here removes the event's dots from the Calendar grid, and the star badges on these rows are the same unread markers you see there.
  • Conferences. Because search covers the description, a meeting link in an event is searchable text. The meeting itself is joined from Event Detail, using the same service as Conferences.
  • Notifications. Events you were invited to are the ones with a red color bar; the invitation itself arrives through Notifications.
  • Map. The location text you search on is the place saved from Search Event Location, and its coordinates are what drive directions later.
  • Offline and reconnect. A deletion made offline is held on the device and pushed once the connection returns.

Troubleshooting​

Searching by type name finds nothingThe event's type may have been removed from your agency's list, in which case the row shows "Type: -". Search by title or location instead.
A repeating event appears only onceThis screen groups by the event's start date, not by every date it occurs. Use the Calendar grid to see each occurrence.
Press-and-hold does nothingYou did not create that event, or it is an External Event. Only the creator can delete.
"RepeatEnd" is blank on a rowNo end date is set for the repeat, so it continues indefinitely.
Dates look wrongYour account's date format is set in General App Settings.
The list is very longType two or three letters of anything you remember — the title, the location or the type. Filtering is instant.
A deleted event is still listed on another deviceThat device has not refreshed yet. It drops off the next time its Calendar loads.
