Connect a Device
Choose which type of connected display or stream you want to set up.
The Connect a Device screen is a launch pad. It does no work of its own — it holds three buttons, one for each kind of connected hardware REDENES supports, and each one carries you forward to the setup screen for that hardware. Use it when you are standing in front of a station display or a stream box and need to get it talking to your agency.

The screen header is not fixed. Whatever screen sent you here supplies the title, so the words at the top may say Connect a Device or match the row you tapped in App Settings.
The screen also carries an add flag forward from App Settings. That flag decides whether the three-dot menu on the Connection Settings screen is visible, which is what controls your ability to pair or design an IntelliScreen. You do not set it here — it comes from your access to the module.
Getting Here
- Open the Account tab.
- Open App Settings.
- Choose Connect a Device.
What Each Option Is For

Before You Start with IntelliScreen
Pairing a display is a two-part job, and the order matters.

You can do these in either order, but a paired display with no design has nothing to show. If you are setting up a new screen from scratch, design first.
Have the display powered on and showing its code before you tap IntelliScreen. The code is what proves you are physically at that screen, and codes can be reissued — an old photograph of one will not work.
Loading and Empty States
This screen has nothing to load. It holds three buttons and a header, all drawn immediately.

What Carries Forward
Two values travel from App Settings through this screen and into Connection Settings.

Neither is something you set here. If the three-dot menu is missing on the next screen, that flag is the reason.
Opening IntelliScreen Setup
- Tap IntelliScreen.
- Connection Settings opens with IntelliScreen as its header and the Devices tab showing.
- From there you can pair a new display with its login code, or design a new screen layout.
- To come back, tap the back button at the top of that screen.
Opening EchoStream
- Tap EchoStream. The EchoStream screen opens.
- Follow the on-screen steps to set up your stream.
- Tap the back button to return to Connect a Device.
About RescueLink
RescueLink is shown alongside the other two, but tapping it currently does nothing — no screen opens and no message appears. This is expected in the current release rather than a fault with your device or your permissions.
Leaving the Screen
- Tap the back button at the top of the screen.
- Any network request that was still in flight is cancelled first, so a slow request cannot pop an error alert over whatever screen you land on.
- You return to App Settings.
This screen follows your theme choice. If Dark is selected under App Defaults, Connect a Device and both setup screens open in dark mode.
How This Connects
- Where you arrive from. This screen is reached from a row on App Settings, which also supplies the header text and the add flag.
- What it leads to. IntelliScreen is the only button with a documented destination: Connection Settings, where paired displays, Home designs and Incident designs all live.
- Displays versus devices. The displays you pair here are not the same list as Devices. That screen lists phones, tablets and web sessions signed in as people; IntelliScreen displays are agency hardware paired with a short login code and are managed only from Connection Settings.
- What a paired display shows. An IntelliScreen runs one of your saved designs. Incident designs are driven by live incident data, so what appears on a station wall reflects what crews see under Incidents.
- Theme. Appearance follows the Theme choice on App Defaults, applied when the screen opens.
- Offline behavior. The three buttons work offline because they only open other screens. The screens they open need a connection: pairing a display and creating a design both refuse to run without one and tell you the internet is not available.
Troubleshooting

| The screen header says something other than "Connect a Device" | Normal. The title is supplied by the screen you came from. |
| The screen is dark when you expected light | Change Theme on App Defaults and save; it applies the next time this screen opens. |
| Going back leaves you on a blank or unexpected screen | Tap back once more. Requests are cancelled on exit, so nothing is left loading. |
