Connection Settings

Pair IntelliScreen displays, design new screen layouts, and manage your connected devices.

Connection Settings is where you manage IntelliScreen displays for your agency. The screen is organized into three tabs — Devices, Home and Incidents — that you can tap or swipe between. From the three-dot menu you can pair a new display using the eight-character code shown on its screen, or design a brand-new layout that displays can then run.

All three lists load in a single request when the screen opens, so switching tabs never waits on the network. Every value is shown capitalized.

The three-dot menu in the top corner opens two actions:

The three-dot menu is hidden unless the screen you came from passed the add flag. Without it you can still browse all three tabs and edit an existing display, but you cannot pair or design.

Getting Here

1. Open the Account tab.
2. Open App Settings.
3. Choose Connect a Device, then tap IntelliScreen.

Switching Tabs

1. Tap Devices, Home, or Incidents at the top. The active tab's label turns red and a red underline appears beneath it.
2. You can also swipe left or right; the tab label updates when the swipe settles.
3. Rotating the device keeps you on the same tab and re-snaps the page into place.

Adding an IntelliScreen Device

1. Tap the three-dot menu, then choose Add Intelliscreen Device. The pairing form appears over the list with all fields blank.
2. Enter the login code across the two four-character boxes. Typing the fourth character in the first box automatically jumps you to the second box.
3. Or tap Scan to read the code from the display's QR code. The scanner fills the first box with the first four characters and the second box with the last four, then closes.
4. Fill in Name, Location, Area and Description. All four are required.
5. Tap Login to pair. Tap Cancel to close the form and keep the list as it was.

The form checks your entries in order and stops at the first problem.

On success the form closes. The list does not refresh on its own — leave the screen and come back, or reopen it, to see the new display.

caution

The login code is eight characters and is displayed on the IntelliScreen itself. It is what proves you are standing at that display, so treat it like a password: do not photograph and share it.

Designing a New IntelliScreen

1. Tap the three-dot menu, then choose Design New Intelliscreen.
2. Enter a Name for the design.
3. Tap Orientation and pick Portrait or Landscape. Until you do, the button reads Select.
4. Tap Screen Type and pick Default or Incident.
5. Tap Create.

When the design is created, the layout editor opens straight away so you can start placing items. Which editor opens depends on your orientation choice: a portrait design opens the portrait editor, a landscape design opens the landscape editor. The tab lists are refreshed quietly in the background at the same time, so the new design is there when you return.

Screen Type decides which tab the design lands in. A Default design appears under Home; an Incident design appears under Incidents and is driven by live incident data when it runs.

Editing a Paired Device

1. Open the Devices tab.
2. Tap any device row. The update screen opens with Name, Location, Area and Description pre-filled from that display.
3. Change what you need and tap save. All four fields are still required, with the same messages as pairing: "Please enter name", "Please enter location", "Please enter area", "Please enter description".
4. On success a short confirmation appears, the device list reloads automatically, and you return to Connection Settings.

Editing needs a connection. Without one the app shows its "internet not available" message and nothing is sent.

The edit screen changes the display's labels only — its name, where it is, the area it covers and its description. It does not change which design the display runs.

Opening an Existing Design

1. Open the Home or Incidents tab.
2. Tap a design row. The app fetches that design's saved items and layout, then opens the editor matching the design's own orientation.
3. A spinner covers the screen while the design loads.

Leaving the Screen

Tapping back cancels any request still in flight and returns you to Connect a Device, so a slow list request cannot throw an error over the previous screen.

How This Connects

• Where the data comes from. Paired displays, Home designs and Incident designs all arrive in one request to your agency's connection settings when the screen opens. Nothing is cached, so every visit is a fresh read.
• What updates it. Pairing adds a display; the design form adds a design; the edit screen changes a display's labels and then reloads the list. Changes made on the REDENES web side appear here the next time you open the screen.
• What a display shows. An Incident design is fed by live incident data, so a station wall driven by one changes as crews work the call in Incidents. The IntelliScreen assigned to an active incident is managed from IntelliScreen Device inside Command.
• Not the same as Devices. Devices lists people's phones, tablets and web sessions. IntelliScreens are agency hardware and only appear here.
• Theme and dates. Appearance follows Theme on App Defaults, which also sets the pairing code boxes' outline color.
• Offline behavior. Pairing, designing and editing all refuse to run without a connection and say so before sending anything, so nothing is queued and silently lost. Browsing the tabs works only if the lists already loaded during this visit.
• Session expiry. If your session has expired, any of these requests signs you out of the app rather than failing quietly.

Troubleshooting

If this happens	What to do
The three-dot menu is not there	The add flag was not passed in from App Settings, so pairing and designing are hidden for you. Editing an existing display still works.
"Please enter valid login code" although you typed a code	The two boxes together must hold eight characters. Check that the second box filled in — it takes focus automatically once the first has four.
Scanning fills only part of the code	The scanner splits the code into the first four and last four characters. If the display's code is not eight characters long, type it instead.
A display will not pair	Confirm the code currently on the display — codes are per-display and can be reissued. Check you have a connection, since pairing is blocked offline.
The new display is not in the list after pairing	The list does not auto-refresh after pairing. Leave the screen and come back.
"Please select orientation" or "Please select screen type"	The matching button still reads Select. Tap it and pick a value.
A new design opens the wrong editor	The editor follows the design's Orientation. Create a new design with the other orientation; orientation cannot be changed afterwards from this screen.
The design list looks stale	Reopen the screen. All three lists reload together on open.
Editing a display reports the internet is unavailable	Edits are sent immediately and are not queued. Reconnect and try again.
You were signed out while using this screen	Your session expired. Sign in again and reopen the screen.
