Wi-Fi QR Code

Generate a scannable QR code for a Wi-Fi network, a website link, or a contact card, then save, share, or print it.

The Wi-Fi QR Code tool builds QR codes that anyone can scan with an ordinary phone camera. You pick what the code should contain — Wi-Fi credentials, a web address, or a contact card — fill in the fields for that type, and generate the code. The finished code is laid out on a full page with your title, description and the REDENES logo, ready to save to your photos, share as a PDF, or print and pin up at a station.

Overview

The screen starts with one control: the Code Type selector. Nothing else is shown until you pick a type, and the finished-code section stays hidden until you generate something.

Choosing a different type clears every field on the screen and hides the finished code, so you always start clean.

When you choose Wifi you also pick a security type.

Security type	Use it for
None (Open)	Networks with no password. The password is left out of the code entirely
WEP	Older WEP-protected networks
WPA/WPA2 Personal	Most home and office networks
WPA3 Personal	Newer WPA3 networks
WPA2/WPA3 Transition	Mixed networks that accept both

The last three all produce the same kind of code, which is what modern phones expect. Pick the one that matches the router so the label on your printed page is accurate.

Getting Here

1. Open the Account tab.
2. Open App Settings.
3. Choose the Wi-Fi QR Code tool.

Creating a Wi-Fi Code

1. Tap the Code Type selector and choose Wifi. The Wi-Fi fields appear.
2. Enter the Network Name exactly as the router broadcasts it, including capitals.
3. Enter the Password. It is hidden as you type; tap the eye button to show or hide it.
4. Tap Security Type and pick the option that matches the network. Until you do, the button reads Select.
5. Turn on the Hidden toggle if the network does not broadcast its name.
6. Tap Generate.

The password is optional. Leaving it blank produces a code with no password in it — appropriate for an open network, and a common mistake on a protected one.

Creating a Website Link Code

1. Choose Website Link as the code type.
2. Enter the address in the Website Link field.
3. Tap Generate.

If your address does not already contain http, the app adds http:// in front of it for you, so typing a bare domain still produces a working code.

Creating a VCard Contact Code

1. Choose VCard as the code type. The contact fields and a Select Contact button appear.
2. Fill in the fields. Required: First name, Last name, and a phone number.
3. Optional: mobile, email, website, company, job title, fax, address, city, post code, country.
4. Or tap Select Contact to open the Directory and pick a person. When you come back, the form is filled from that contact.
5. Tap Generate.

Job title is never filled from the Directory and is not carried into the code. Fill in the rest and treat it as a note-to-self field.

Saving, Sharing, and Printing

Once a code is generated, a name field, the code image and a description box appear.

1. Enter a Name — it becomes the large heading at the top of the page.
2. Enter a Description — it prints in smaller text beneath the code.
3. Then choose one of the three buttons.

The page itself is always laid out the same way: your name as a large centered heading, the QR code in the middle, your description underneath, and the REDENES logo centered at the bottom.

Printing is only available on iOS 26 and later. On earlier versions save the page to your gallery or share it as a PDF and print from another device instead.

How This Connects

• Where the data comes from. Everything is typed by you, with one exception: Select Contact pulls from your agency's Directory, so the contact details on a VCard code are only as current as that record.
• The code image itself is fetched online. The QR image is requested from a code-generating service, so Generate needs a connection. The page layout, gallery save, PDF and print all happen on the device afterwards.
• Nothing is stored in REDENES. Generated codes, names and descriptions are not saved to your agency. Leaving the screen discards them, so save or share before you go.
• Not the pairing codes. The QR code on Wi-Fi Scan links two REDENES devices, and the eight-character code on Connection Settings pairs a display. Codes built here are for ordinary phone cameras.
• Theme. Appearance follows Theme on App Defaults. The printed page is always light so it prints cleanly.
• Offline behavior. With no connection, Generate produces nothing because the image cannot be fetched. There is no queue and no retry — reconnect and tap Generate again.

Troubleshooting

If this happens	What to do
Generate does nothing and no code appears	The code image is fetched online. Reconnect and tap Generate again.
A Wi-Fi QR code will not let people join	Check the Network Name for exact spelling and capitals, confirm the password, and make sure Security Type matches the router. Re-generate after any change.
The code joins but asks for a password	The password field was left blank when you generated. Fill it in and generate again.
A hidden network's code does not work	Turn on the Hidden toggle and generate again — a hidden network needs that flag in the code.
"Select code type"	Nothing is chosen yet. Tap Code Type first.
"Enter network name" / "Select security type"	Fill the named field or pick a security type, then generate.
"Enter website link"	The link field is empty. A bare domain is fine — http:// is added for you.
"Enter firstname", "Enter lastname" or "Enter phone number"	Those three VCard fields are required.
Select Contact leaves fields blank	The Directory record has no value for them. Type them in by hand.
Job title is missing from the scanned card	Expected — job title is not carried into the code.
"Printing only aviable on IOS 26+"	Save to your gallery or share the PDF and print from another device.
"No printer available" or "AirPrint is not available on this device."	Confirm the printer is on the same network and supports AirPrint.
"error in qr code"	No code has been generated yet. Generate one, then save, share or print.
Your code and description vanished	Nothing is saved. Save or share before leaving the screen.
