Contact Details

Open a full contact card for any person you tap while working in the command views.

Contact Details is the shared person card used across the command screens. Whenever you tap someone in a resource list or a unit roster, this overlay slides in showing their directory profile: the same fields you would see in the agency directory, presented read-only so nothing can be changed by accident while you are running an incident.

Contact Details popup

Overview

ControlWhat it does
Contact Details titleNames the overlay at the top of the card
Profile areaThe person's full directory entry, shown exactly as it is in the directory
Close buttonDismisses the overlay and puts you back where you were
info

The card is always read-only. It is never opened in add or edit mode from the command views, so there is no save button and no editable field. Changes to a person's record are made in the agency directory, not here.

Getting Here

You never open Contact Details from a menu. It appears when you tap a person in one of these places.

ScreenWhere you tap
Command ResourcesA person inside an expanded unit on the Resources tab, or any row on the Personnel tab
Unit OverviewA member of the unit, when the roster is not in split mode
Tasks & UnitsA person inside a unit's section in the personnel popup
caution

The card only opens for people the app can find in the agency directory cached on this device. If it cannot match them, tapping the row does nothing at all, with no message. The name you tapped comes from the command board, while the card comes from the directory, so the two can be out of step until the app syncs.

note

In Unit Overview opened as Split Unit, tapping a person ticks their checkbox instead of opening a card. Close the split roster and reopen the plain roster if you need someone's details.

View a Contact

  1. Tap a person anywhere in the command views. The overlay fades in over the screen you were on.
  2. Read the profile. It shows the same fields as the person's full directory entry, such as their name, role, unit, phone numbers, and email, depending on what the agency has recorded for them.
  3. Tap Close. The overlay disappears and you return to exactly where you were, with your scroll position and any expanded sections still as you left them.
tip

Because the card opens on top rather than navigating away, you can work down a roster tapping one person after another without losing your place. That makes it fast to collect several phone numbers during a callback.

Loading and Empty States

StateWhat you see
Person found in the cached directoryThe full profile appears immediately, with no loading delay
Person not in the cached directoryNothing opens when you tap the row
A field the agency has not filled inThat field is blank or omitted on the card
A card opened from a stacked popupThe card appears above whatever popups are already open, so Close takes you back one layer at a time

How This Connects

This card does not store anything. It is a view of one record from your agency directory, rendered inside a command-friendly frame.

  • The person's profile comes from your agency directory as cached on this device. That cache is filled and refreshed by syncing, so it is what makes the card open instantly and work with no connection.
  • The name and unit you tapped came from the incident's command board. The board holds who is on scene; the directory holds who they are. The link between them is the person's directory record, which is why an unmatched person simply does nothing when tapped.
  • Editing a person's details, their certifications, or their contact numbers happens in the agency directory. Once that change syncs to the device, this card shows it. It does not need the incident to be reopened.
  • The certifications shown on the card are the same ones cross-referenced in Certifications Data.

Offline the card works normally from the cache. A responder added to the agency since your last sync will not have a card, and details edited elsewhere since then will be the older version. Reconnect and let the app sync if the numbers on a card look wrong.

Troubleshooting

If this happensWhat to do
Tapping a person does nothingThey are not in the directory cached on this device. Reconnect, let the app sync, then try again.
The card shows an out-of-date phone numberThe card reads the cached directory. Have the record updated in the directory, then let the app sync.
You cannot edit anything on the cardThat is intended. The command views always open it read-only. Edit the person in the agency directory instead.
Tapping a person ticks a checkbox insteadYou are in the split roster in Unit Overview. Open the plain roster to view cards.
Close puts you back somewhere unexpectedThe card stacks on top of whatever popup was open. Keep closing until you are back at the board.
Fields on the card are blankThose details have not been filled in for that person in the agency directory.
